Post-op, Day 6 : Today sucked too

I'm so uncomfortable. And tired. And hungry. And swollen. I finished the last of my antibiotics today. I hope that helps with the nausea. I woke up at 1:00 this morning with a lot of pain. I tried to get up to take my pain meds but I was too dizzy so stayed in bed. I finally got up around 4:00 and took some Tylenol with codeine and went back to bed. I slept most of the day. I've hardly eaten anything in 6 days which is probably contributing to my weakness, dizziness and nausea. I just had a little bit of banana smoothie, which totally made my mouth and throat itch. I must be allergic to bananas. I never eat them. Ugh. I'm frustrated. My swelling looks the same. It's hard to imagine that the swelling will ever go down. I'm starving. I can't imagine 5-6 more weeks of a liquid/blender diet. Ugh. Thank you for your comments ~ they are very encouraging. :)
Oh yeah, I don't have any bruising but my neck is really swollen. And it still hurts when I swallow.

Sorry, your title made me smile. How better to sum up a day than that? Discouraging (and not fun) about the banana discovey. Don't give up though, there's got to be something that will leave you more satisfied and wanting more. Tomato soup? I recall reading from quite a few others who couldn't believe how much they loved their tomato soup! Whatever it is, there's got to be something....

Getting off the nasty antibiotics should help, that's for sure. Girl, you've got to EAT! :)

You're probably getting sick of hearing it, but hang in there :)

It is going to get better soon. I started feeling some better in the second week and by week three much better. Like Kate said, the tomato soup helped me to eat and so did blended potatoes, and chocolate and strawberry milk shakes. I think I am actually gaining weight now on this liquid/blender diet. This diet is not so bad when you get used to it.

It is hard to grasp this now, I understand, but you will feel better. I still have swelling in my face and I sometimes think it will never get better... but it will. It just gets frustrating.

We are still here with you. Try not to stress to much. Blessings to you!!! : )

Hey Aimee...what, you mean you don't like having Octomom lips and the throat of an angry Gila monster? :)

Man, I feel for you. Like Rita said, this too shall pass and you'll be feeling better. Is there anything you've been eating that HAS been enjoyable? Maybe hubby can cruise to Trader Joe's and get some yummy soup for you...something non-banana, maybe.

Aimee, you are such a trooper! Even though I haven't been through this yet, I know from others' advice that the worst will soon be over for you. You'll be on the up-and-up in no time. Thank you for mustering up the energy to keep us all informed! My surgery is in 2 weeks, and you have no idea how much your first-hand story has helped me.

Try to eat some cold foods, it might feel good on your throat. (Unless you experiencing any sensitivity to heat or cold. I'm kind of worried about that for myself.... )

I am thinking of you!

I have no helpful comments for you, but I am so glad you're posting. I hope that the end of the antibiotics signal a change of feelings for you.

Eat eat eat! :)

Poor you. I know it is a small comfort, but as the others said "It will get better".

When you start eating again, I think things will look different. When your body is starving and you can't eat, it's difficult to feel positive about anything.

I haven't gone through my surgery yet, so I can't offer any advice. But I am sending positive thoughts in your direction. :-)

Keep your chin up Aimee (no pun intended!), from all the blogs i've read the first week is the worst and then things improve rapidly, so you're almost through the hardest bit!

Healing thoughts coming your way...

Hey Aimee,

I know you've been feeling horrible and don't want visitors, but let me know when you're ready. I have the juicer for you, and I can bring some fresh fruits and veggies. I make this one drink that has a little bit of italian parsley in it, sounds gross, but you barely notice it, and it will help settle your stomach.
