Orthodontist Appointment Post-Op

I went to the orthodontist this morning. Dr. Paz checked things out and then told the tech to put a new wire on the top. An active wire. I asked her what the wire will be doing and she said it was to level things. I was kind of surprised because they said they wouldn't be moving my teeth until 7 or 8 weeks after surgery. I think Dr. Relle wanted this done, so I'm sure it's fine. Two of my brackets had come off, so I had to get those replaced. I was so glad that my mouth is numb so I didn't really feel anything. It took her awhile to get all of the figure 8 wire things off and then put in the new wire. My jaws were really tired afterwards. I can't believe tomorrow will be 4 weeks since surgery.

Time does fly, doesn't it?

I am glad you are doing well. I do not get to see my ortho until June 16. I want him to start moving teeth so bad. I only have 2 teeth (in the front) that touch, so eating is still out of the question.

I am glad you are doing so well. : )

Whoa... I can't believe it's been a month!! You're looking great! Too bad that it hurts to smile still :( Hopefully that will go away soon.

Good morning I am from an orthodontic office in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is interesting to read your blogs and see how you are responding to your treatment. I hope that you are feeling better and that you will be done your treatment soon. All the best!!

Happy 4 weeks post-op!!!

Oh my, how's your jaw feeling today after having all those ortho adjustments? How wide did you have to open? Or shoud I ask how wide CAN you open?

My jaw is feeling okay today. I think I can open about an inch? lol I have no idea how to measure. She used those lip stretchers yesterday, but it was a small one. I still have a ton of stitches both in my upper and in my lower jaw, so I could kinda feel those being stretched. I just closed my eyes and hope it all ended quickly. I am sure my teeth would be hurting today if my mouth wasn't numb. "Yay!" to numbness. haha
Lately, when I wake up in the morning, it feels like there's a brick on my face. I'm guessing it's the nerves waking up. There's lots of tingling. My face just feels heavy. Hard to explain. Chin is still numb and gross feeling. :)

Hi Sheila ~ thanks for reading! :)

Hi Aimee, I'm glad you're making progress! That is kind of weird that they're putting in a new wire. Are you doing mouth exercises? What do I call that? Mouthisthenics? :)

haha...I'm not doing mouth exercises. Nobody has mentioned that I do them. I woke up more swollen than usual today. Maybe because I slept until noon. Getting over a cold. I'm still pretty swollen and numb. I can't wait to feel 100% normal again.
