Yesterday I scheduled my consultation appointment with the surgeon. It's set for October 22nd. I'm so eager to hear what he
has to say. I have to stop by my ortho's office to pick up my xrays, molds, and treatment plan to bring with me.
Yesterday was my 3rd week in braces, and I have to say, it has gotten much better. I hardly think about them anymore. Some of my teeth are still sore, and one of them actually feels loose (I hope that's normal!!) but I'm not constantly aware of them anymore. The tooth that feels loose is my only "crooked" tooth, so I wonder if that has something to do with it. I just hope it doesn't fall out!

It is totally normal to have loose feeling teeth and it freaked me out a bit when I first experienced it. But, your teeth are moving, so it's a good sign. Ha - get used to it. ;)
Right now my pretty much all of my top teeth are loose. When I bite, there's that little 'click.'
It seems like I notice my braces a lot, even 2 years in. But I've also heard that the regular ceramic brackets (like I have) are actually bulkier or less comfortable. Oh well. I've definitely had some rough times with sore teeth and cut up cheeks. It sounds like you're doing really well!
Keep an eye on that loose tooth because in a few months, it won't be crooked anymore! It's so motivating to watch the change.
Hi Aimee! Good for you that you get to talk to the surgeon next month. It means your one step closer and that's always a good thing. :D
Those loose teeth are moving and making their way to their right place!
Thank you Erin and Shontell; I have been trying not freak out about this loose tooth. I keep wanting to play with it with my tongue and click it back and forth. Maybe I should stop doing that. It's a very weird feeling though. When I wash my face or put my makeup on, I can feel it move intoward and then I feel like I have to click it back out with my tongue. I hope I can get used to it because it's very disconcerting!!
You will get used to it because you'll be experiencing it most of the time! But it's always just a little bit freaky.
I too had the same feeling. I actually drempt (Hmm..is that right?) thatmy teeth fell out! It is such a weird feeling, I have spent days pushing and pulling on my teeth with my tongue. You will get past this soon, Im sure!
Isn't it weird how at first all you can feel are braces, then...magically one day...they totally disappear from your radar? Glad to hear you have completed phase 1! Can't wait to hear about the consultation.
I'm not lookin forward to loose teeth. R U getting brusing along the gums? I never got moulds. What R they for? Seems very early to do it. I only had x-rays before the surgeon and ortho made an assessment.
Hi Jen,
Your ortho didn't take molds of your teeth before he came up with a treatment plan? They are used to show your bite before treatment. The surgeon is requiring me to bring my xrays and molds, otherwise, my appointment will be cancelled. So I have that all taken care of and am ready to go. Can't wait to hear what he has to say.
No, I don't have any bruising in my mouth. I had some raw areas on my cheeks, but it's all better now. The only thing that annoys me now is feeling the braces when I speak. That drives me crazy!
Ooh, another "Aimee" here - I am about to start my whole braces/surgery adventure myself. Happy to have found some other folks who have traveled this road ahead of me!

Aimee your date's fast approaching with the surgeon, i wish you all the best and let us know the outcome on the 22nd!
wow good for you lady. i agree with what wired lady said. one day you wake up and you can't feel them anymore. i'm only self conscious of mine around people that have never seen them before. other than that i forget about them. my teeth don't feel loose yet but i still chew funny. you all have no idea how reassuring it is to read your posts....
