A fellow orthoblogger mentioned that she was taking this vitamin supplement. I've been sick for the past week, so I thought it might be a good idea to run out and get it. I also thought it would be good to start taking it before surgery and also afterwards to help in my recovery. The problem is, it's disgusting. I ran right home and took the 2 recommended tablespoons. It tasted awful. My stomach is burning, and I am experiencing some borborygmus (LOL) that I hope doesn't turn into diarrhea!! I'm thinking that maybe I should take half a dose in the morning and half a dose in the evening. I don't know. I have a sensitive stomach, so we'll see how this goes. Gurgle, gurgle...
This just might be a waste of $30 bucks.
UPDATE: Okay, I've been taking this with grape juice and it's not too bad at all. :)

Is It Worth It?

I ask a friend about this stuff, and he said never to take this on an empty stomach. He tried it once and he said it about killed him. He described it just like you did. Sounds like some powerful stuff.
I know what you mean about time flying. I am seven days away from surgery now. I am so busy trying to get the last minute things done that I am not nervous yet.
Hope you feel better! : )
Hi there...Oh, sorry to hear the mega vitamin is not agreeing with you. :(
I usually do take it after eating something. After a week, the sharp tangy flavor the bottle describes as "tropical" doesn't seem so bad. Hang in there...
My stomach wasn't exactly empty. I had just had a medium PinkBerry. :) But maybe that wasn't enough. It just feels like a rock sitting in my stomach. When I smelled it, I had a feeling it wasn't going to sit well. Next time I won't take as much at one time.
(looking up borborygmus in the dictionary)...Oh, so that's what that means! I experienced this for so long, but never knew there was a term for it! Funny!
I bought some of that stuff from Costco, and it's actually pretty yummy. Mix it in with juice, and you can't even notice!
So that's the trick? Mixing it with juice? :) I'll try that. I thought it tasted really terrible on its own. I didn't know they have it at Costco. I'll go there if I end up buying some more. I tried to get my kid to take some but he wanted nothing to do with it.
I've not tried that, but I do need a good multi-vitamin.
My SIL had both upper and lower surgery and swore by using wheat grass in her shakes. I keep meaning to do a bit of that.
Hey, I was reading on Summer's blog about her having a stitch for screws. I never had any outside incisions. Everything with me was within the mouth. If you pulled up my lips you could see the stiches early on. I would say that at about week 2, they started to dissolve and fall out. I guess some people have different experiences depending on the doctor.
Well, I tired it again today. I only took one tablespoon this time and I mixed it with grape juice. It really wasn't that bad. I'll keep it up and see how it goes. I'm a vegetarian, so I figure the extra vitamins might be good for the healing process.
Yeah, I think all doctors do things differently. My surgeon didn't say anything about cutting on the outside of my face. I'm making a list of questions to ask him when I see him on April 10th, and that is one of them. Another girl who doesn't have a blog sent me some before and after pictures (thank you, Maria!) and she looks so gorgeous. I hope my results are good. I keep thinking of myself as the "before" version. Kinda weird. Can't wait to see the "after" version.
Hey! I took Emergen-C multi vitamin super orange drink during my recovery and I didn't get sick! I got a cold from my uncle on week 2, and 4 packs of that stuff a day for 2 days cured me :)
So as long as you're taking something, you won't catch any weird flu bugs!
You're so prepared!!!
