I just received an email from the surgery coordinator at my orthodontist's office. Here is what she wrote:
"We received a report from Dr. Relle, he agrees with the need for orthognathic surgery and recommends an upper jaw advancement with lower jaw rotation to correct asymmetry. So, it will be a double-jaw surgery."
I emailed her back and asked her if my upper will also be widened and will my lower be moved back. I assume The lower
will be moved back and not just rotated. I guess I can ask the surgeon all this when I get closer to a surgical date. It would just
be nice to know in advance...
****Okay, so my upper jaw will be broken in a couple of places and widened and also moved forward. My lower jaw will be move back in addition to correcting the asymmetry. *****

Hey Aimee,
I have a SARPE with Dr. Relle tomorrow! Down the line I will have the the mandibular osteomety on the lower jaw to line it up...it is so off!
Hey Aimee!
Good luck! Miss you!
Thanks, Steph!
Good luck tomorrow, Leah! Let me know what you thought of Dr. Relle...small world!
Oh boy lots of fun for you. Im sure you will do great, its going to be here and done before you know it. Good Luck
I hear ya!!
Sounds familiar! A week ago I had my own upper jaw widened and moved forward/rotation corrected/lower jaw moved back! Michelle is right, your surgery date will be upon you before you know it.
just sending you a hug, its been a while since i visited your profile...
Dr. Fotovat wih Straight Tooth Junction is my ortho :)
i wish you luck, sounds very similar to my surgery minus the chin...whens the date again?
Hi Kristy,
I'm not even close to a surgery date. I've only had my braces on for 2 months. I hope it is around summer though because I'll be starting nursing school in September. I'm guessing though, that if they say a year, it's going to be a year.
Hi Aimee, thanks for your comment on my blog. When did you have your implants done and how did that go for you. I think its great that you are going through with this, it is a tough decision but you will have your teeth for a long time so its a good investment! And the year will go by really fast. It was two years for me from my first ortho consultation to the time of my surgery and it was all very fast. I'm sure you will have all the info by the time your date comes. If your surgeon is like most, a week before the surgery they will go over exactly what will be done and what you should expect. Good luck! I think you look great with your braces.
It's nice to finally know huh?! Now you have all this time to obsess on it!! :)) I know I did!! But, it will be here before you know it! (I know everyone says that right! But I waited 4 years and I felt it came quickly!!)
Hi Aimee...I posted a reply under my comments section on my blog. Congratualtions and good luck to you in nursing school!!!!
Good luck Aimee!
Hey, Ladies
This is Tom here. Is Kaiser doing your surgery? If it is Kaiser are you having any problem getting approved?
Hi Tom, Welcome to the bunch! I don't know if Aimee is having any problems. I had not problem whatsoever...When I showed up at the hospital my copay for the surgery was only $15 :)
Hi Tom, Dr. Relle at Kaiser is doing my surgery and also Leah's and Wired Lady's surgeries. I had no problem getting approved. The surgeon agreed with the ortho that I need surgery and so far so good. My ortho said that Kaiser doesn't usually turn people away. Do you have Kaiser? What do you need done?
You are all so lucky that Kaiser is available in your states. I live in Washington and they don't provide coverage for this area. It looks like I'm gonna pay for my surgery out of pocket. So scary since I'm the only one working in my family at the moment. : (
