BooHooHoo!!

I had an ortho appointment today. I just had to write and post about how bad the pain is!! Oh. My. God. My bottom front teeth are in the worst pain. I thought my teeth hurt before with previous adjustments, but this takes the cake. I got a new wire put on to pull my bottom front teeth forward. I need to post a picture of my teeth/bite soon. It's crazy. I'm going to look so awful by the time I am ready for surgery. The ortho said there's no way I'm going to be ready for surgery in the summer. He said it will be more like winter, which is fine. At least I can have it done on winter break. Okay, I am going to go take something strong for the pain and go to bed....
p.s. 8 months down.

Aww honey.. Try not to despair, the wire changes don't hurt as much once you get a few months in.. Those few days after are harsh but just take some painkillers and try and eat soft food til it dies down.

As for it looking worse before it gets better, I am probably at the stage where I look the worst I ever have done in my life and that can get you down.. But had my casts taken the other day and when she fit them in the 'new' position, it reminded me how worth it all this will be eventually!

So hang in there, the time really does fly by.. Hope the pain dies down soon xx

I do hope the pain has gotten better, I know exactly how you feel. For some reason, the bottom front teeth seem to bother me more than any others. Weird!
You sound like you have a really good attitude about waiting for the surgery. Good for you, I was miserably impatient!
I so want to be done with all of this!

Thanks everybody. :) It's now Monday and my teeth are feeling much better. I swore they were going to fall out a couple days after the adjustment.
It's funny how you forget about the pain once it's gone. Thanks again!!

Just checking out your site. I'm having surgery on my top and bottom jaw in Auguste 2008. Counting down the days. My lower jaw is much longer on one side and I have an underbite. I've been wearing braces since November 2006. I was told it would only be 9 months but I'm on a year and half now! My teeth used to be straight and match up even though my jaw didn't. Like your docter says, your teeth will still lining up with your jaw and be way off (if your jaw is as off as mine). I can't wait to get the surgery. I perfected my "picture" smile so you can't really notice but it's there bigger than ever and I hate it. Good luck to you! You are not far behind me. Maybe I should start a little website:> I'll let you know. Best, Chrisanna

I was out for a couple of weeks and am just catching up on what is going on in ortho-land. Glad you are feeling better ... those wire changes can be brutal! But I try to look at it like exercise ... it can be painful but the end result is what keeps you going :)

It does look worse before it looks better; but is comfort to be found because it's part of a process! I take painkillers 30 minutes before I sit down in the ortho's chair, and then some more when the pain starts to flare up again. It's never enough but it does take the edge off a little.
